In the spirit...

The other day I got caught listening to a Christmas cd while I was crafting.

(In my defense, I was working on holiday items and needed inspiration via music. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.)

But I'm not the only one in my house getting into the Christmas spirit. Last night the kids picked a Christmas movie to watch at bedtime. Then today, Jonah came home from school with a Christmas book from the library.

So HA. It's not just me, folks.

Apparently my whole family is crazy.

The resemblance is uncanny!

Last night while watching NCIS Los Angeles, I realized something. I'd seen the character Hetty before. Then I walked in the boys room to say goodnight and they were watching The Incredibles. Instantly I knew! Hetty is the human version of Edna Mode!

Pumpkin Patch

This morning Sophia & I went to the pumpkin patch with her playgroup. We had so much fun!

Now, I realize that this last one is an EXTREMELY unflattering picture of yours truly. But the story behind it is so funny that I couldn't delete the picture. We were feeding the cows, and the split second before this picture was snapped, the very hungry animal had wrapped it's horribly disgusting tongue completely around her arm. She was disgusted, and I was cracking up!

The big EIGHT.

When we went to bed last night, we had a 7 year old son. When we woke up this morning, an 8 year old was in his place.

He woke up to a new skateboard, elbow and knee pads, and some finger skateboards.

Happy Birthday my sweet Noah Kristopher! I love you!

A slice of Heaven.

Today I got a chance to go to one of my FAVORITE places on earth. Last week my friend Aubrey told me she was going to make the 2 hour drive to Columbia to hit up Hobby Lobby & JoAnn's since we don't have them here in Charleston. And since Hobby Lobby is what I would consider my own personal Heaven, I promptly decided to invite myself along on her little road trip. Our hubbies had today off for Columbus Day, so they would be able to pick the kids up from school, which gave us the ENTIRE DAY to go up!

We got up to bring our kids to school, I left Sophia home with the hubs, and we packed her little man an our other neighbor's son into the car and hit the road at 8am. We got rained on ALL DAY. But did we let that deter us?!

We walked into the sacred doors of the Lobby of Hobby and I swear I heard angels singing. We both stopped and inhaled deeply, wanting to breathe in the awesomeness. We bought some snacks for the boys to keep them appeased and then we took the store literally one aisle at a time. When we got to the fabric section my heart skipped a beat. I didn't even know where to start!! I knew I wanted some Christmas fabric (check), some fabric with some raspberry colors on it (check) and oh so much more. I was very proud of myself for the restraint I showed, because I wanted to buy out the store. But I didn't. I think I deserve a pat on the back.

Then, after a couple of hours we ran back out into the pouring rain, piled bags and kids back into the car, and headed over to JoAnns. We spent another hour or so in there, picking out MORE fabric ( can't pass up Columbus Day sales!!).

We took the kiddoes to a late lunch at Chik-fil-a and then hit the road back home. Even with being at a complete standstill on I-26 for FORTY-FIVE MINUTES, we had a superb day. Totally worth every minute. I can't wait to do it again.

Oh, and if you're reading this Aubrey, "I spent less than you did! Neener, neener, neener!" :)

No pain, no gain.

My friend Aubrey's daughter is a trip. Seriously...she cracks me up on a daily basis. Yesterday we took her to the park with us and she had me in stitches. She is such a girly girl, and I can only hope that Sophia will be just like her! ;)

Little Miss K came walking up the sidewalk wearing pink flip flops, and carrying a pair of blue ones. Here's the conversation that had my sides hurting.

Me: "Hey silly girl, why do you have TWO pairs of shoes?"

Little Miss K: "Because these pink ones sometimes give me blisters, so I have these other shoes just in case my feet start hurting at the park."

Me: "Why don't you just wear the ones that don't hurt your feet?"

Little Miss K: "Because, Miss Jen! The pink ones are so much cuter!!"

She already knows, at the ripe old age of 5, that even if they hurt your feet, you ALWAYS wear the cuter pair of shoes!
